Winter Wiper Card
Happy Saturday! Today the DOstamperSTARS are hopping along with FUN FOLDS! My card ended up being a little bit of a fun fold, and a little bit interactive.
This cute interactive Winter Scene is a Wiper Card, and I modeled mine closely on the awesome card by Julie Davison. Please visit her website to see her video and instructions. She spent a lot of time breaking it down so let's give Julie a big HURRAH for sharing her talent with us!
- CUTTING GUIDE
- Base Cardstock Piece: 8 1/2" x 4 1/4
- Score at 1 1/2" and 3"
- DSP Panels: 5 1/8" x 4"; 1 1/4" x 4" (cut 2)
- Front Piece: 2" x 8" in cardstock of your choice
- Score at 1 1/2" and 3"
- Transparent Window Sheet: 1" x 1/2"
I made a modification to the 2x8 front panel using the hill shape from the Freezin' Fun coordinating dies. In these pictures, I marked the score lines with a pen so you can see where to place the die. You wouldn't do this in real life of course!
- Line up your hill shape on the 3" score line. The hill should go horizontally across the main section of the panel.
2. Run this piece through your die cutter. I'm using the new Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine, available in September. (or now if you are a demonstrator!)
3. You'll end up with a piece like this. We need to just snip off the top bit, as shown.
4. Now, following the score lines, fold your panel. (at this point, if you aren't sure of the fold, check Julie's instructions.) But it's just your basic z-fold. Your piece should look like the image below. We want to use our paper snips to trim off the bit I have highlighted in yellow.
5. You should have a piece that looks like this, this is what you'll use for the front panel of your Wiper Card!
6. Voila! Here is how it looks, unfolded.
I hope this helped you to create your own Wiper Card! It's a fun card and gets a big WOW when the recipient opens it up! The Freezin' Friends set is perfect for this fun winter scene. :)

Whale Done Colorblock
This card is EASY to put together with your Whale Builder punch and your favorite colors of cardstock. I selected 4 colors (So Saffron, Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo, and Pool Party) and punched them out several times with my punch.
I then took sometime playing with the different combinations until I was pleased with the result. Sometimes, if I have an idea but I'm not sure how to get started, I'll search Pinterest or even my closet for color inspiration.
I was imagining bright but modern colors. I think I may have been channeling brands like Lilly Pulitzer or even Simply Southern. I wanted a navy blue (Night of Navy) background with the whales done in bright pops of color. I only went with 4 colors to try to keep it simple (simpler, lol). Anything more would have been too much. And because this had so much going on with the colors, it only needed the punch to finish the design. Adding other elements would have sent this whale card completely overboard.

DOstamperSTARS Sketch Challenge #DOswts343
Welcome to day 4,832 of quarantine 2020. I hope you are having a lovely weekend wherever you are! Today I'm just tickled pink to be participating in a DOstampingStars blog hop. Today we were issued a sketch challenge by our fearless leader, and I do think sketch challenges are my favorite! Sketch's make card design so easy! Simply pick your favorite stamp set, and 2-3 coordinating colors and go to town!My card uses Timeless Tropical, and my colors are Flirty Flamingo, Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green. I used Stampin' Blends markers to color the Hibiscus flower before I die cut them, and added a little bit of Daffodil Delight to the center.
