I love this week's color challenge, it's full of fresh, vibrant colors that make me happy. I love color! I decided to step outside my comfort zone with the card size and made a non-traditional card at 3 1/2" x 6". The beauty of having the envelope maker is the freedom to play around with different card sizes.
I created the background for this card using my new Pacific Point watercolor pencil that came with this month's "A Sara Thing" Paper Pumpkin kit and then just layered several balloons and clouds on top.

More Happy Celebrations and Celebrations Duo TIEF

A few days ago during a YouTube binge marathon, I stumbled across the video below. I don't have the stamp set (yet), but I do have the embossing folders. I used my Happy folder along with my Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to achieve a similar effect with the birthday card below.

Check out the video below and my own card version. Hope this gives you a little inspiration this Monday!

Stamp Club Projects

Tuesday night was stamp club night and I wanted to share some of the projects we created. Just so you don't get too excited, this weren't my ideas. Haha!

The pink dress card uses the really sweet Beautiful You set, we only inked up the top portion, and used watercolor pencils to draw and color the skirt. Very clever!

I love the shooting star die on the Happy Birthday card set, and I ordered this bundle for myself after seeing it in action.

The green graduate card opens up to reveal a gift card for the recipient. And even though it's "interactive," it was really simple to put together!

DOStamperStars Create & Play Kit

Last week I received a fun surprise in the mail. An envelope from my Stampin' Up! sponsor Dawn with a few pieces of Party Animal Designer Series paper, half a sheet of Emerald Envy cardstock, and the instructions to simply create something and share it with the STARS group. Well then. My first thought was that this was some kind of test, to see if I had enough skillz to hang with the DoStamping Stars. I chewed on that for a while, then finally inspiration hit and I added the cute little fox and called it a day.

Turns it it wasn't a test at all. Just a creative challenge to get the juices flowing!

See the rest of the challenge entries here on Dawn's blog:

It's a Sara Thing!

There’s a big surprise coming in April to Paper Pumpkin! The kit was inspired and designed by Stampin’ Up! CEO Sara Douglass.

“Bold, vibrant, and artistic—with a little bit of sass,” is how Stampin’ Up! CEO Sara Douglass described the kit she designed for the April Paper Pumpkin.

Each April Paper Pumpkin kit will include a FREE gift. And check out that pop of lime green, that's a color I definitely don't recognize! Maybe a hint at one of the new In Colors? ;)

Contact me today to sign up by April 10th! You won’t want to miss this!

(psst!  Buy a pre-paid subscription for Paper Pumpkin of 3 months or more by March 31st to choose FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp sets or papers.)

Brrrr!

The Stamp Krewe is here and boy are we cold! I relocated to waaaaay up north last year (aka Minnesota). Here's a picture of my daughters at Christmas with our new family member, Lucy. She's a one-year old Golden/Collie mix and I don't know what we ever did without her.

See that fireplace in the background? That's a new and exciting thing for us! Also, snow. LOL.

With all this cold weather I found myself with a lot more crafting time, and so I'm just pleased as punch to be able to offer Stampin' Up! products.

Lots more to come....

xoxox,
Aimee

A Special Invitation

Once again I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. On Monday I've been invited to attend the White House Holiday Pinterest Party in Washington, D.C. I'll be tweeting, instagramming, and of course pinning the White House Holiday decorations.

I would like to invite you to follow me on Pinterest. I have a special board set up where I'm pinning all sorts of cool Christmas images from holiday's past, and check in on Monday to see my special live pin board.

Look who was on the side of the road

Recognize him? One of my favorite actors, filming something (a PSA?) near one of the launchpads at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Luke Wilson.

RECAP: Day 1 - NASA Social Atlantis

NASA is definitely OPEN for business in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The development of the new Orion capsule and Space Launch System as well as active programs for commercial transport of astronauts to low earth orbit mean that KSC is a hub of activity.

Yesterday the NASA Social group toured the facilities and received updates from NASA leaders on all the changes and developments. We continue today with the rollover of Space Shuttle Atlantis into it's beautiful new home at Kennedy Space Center. I hope you enjoy a few highlights from yesterday.

Please be sure to follow me on twitter @rusewcrazy and instagram @rusewcrazy for more updates throughout the day.

Also, for some really cool 360 degree views please see my Occipital 360 Panorama page - http://occipital.com/user/89d3-662758/aimee-gravelle

Lots of photos below, I apologize they aren't in any great order. Please holler at me if you have ANY questions either about my experience or what is happening at NASA. I will be more than happy to try to get those answered for you.

John McBride and Bob Crippen. NASA astronauts. They were outside the NASA admin building while we were waiting for our hard hat tours of Atlantis' new home.

Joe Oppold leading my group on the new home for Atlantis, currently under construction now with a target opening of July 4, 2013.

Mr. Oppold explaining the exterior finish of the structure.

This is looking inside the building where Atlantis will be rolled in on November 2nd. It will be tilted at a 43.21 degree angle as if in flight. Once secure inside, a wall will be built to fully enclose the space shuttle.

The exterior of the main facade. The "swoosh" will be covered with a copper material which will change color depending on the time of day. It is designed to mimic the color of Atlantis as it goes through reentry into the atmosphere of the Earth.

A sample of the copper material to be used on the facade "swoosh". The upper portion of the facade will have tiles representing those found on the shuttle.

Jason Townsend of NASA leading roll call on the bus. Bueller, Bueller.

The NASA news center. It's a lot smaller than it seems on TV.

Launch pad (either 39-A or B, I will verify). Remains in shuttle configuration. NASA working with partners who may share this space for commercial use.

Bob Crippen.

A piece of space-flown material received in our swag bag. Pays to be a NASA Social participant!

The VAB - Vehicle Assembly Building. Holy Grail for space geeks.
Jules Schneider of Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin built a facility onsite to facilitate the construction of the Orion Capsule.
The famous countdown clock, located outside the Press center.
Angela Brewer, flow manager for the Atlantis program. Everyone at NASA is committed and friendly and she's a perfect example. She got a little emotional discussing the loyalty of the NASA staff let go at the end of the shuttle program.
ME on the hard hat tour. Yay! :)
Yes, yes it is. One of my favorite actors was filming near the launch pad. LUKE WILSON.
Press Room.
Where visitors will enter to see Atlantis.
There she is, Space Shuttle Atlantis. One of the last photos that will be taken of her inside the VAB as tomorrow she moves out into her forever home.

It's NASA Social Time

Good morning all! It's a gorgeous day on the East Coast of Florida and in a few minutes I'll be heading over to the Kennedy Space Center. The Atlantis NASA Social group today is going to be super-busy getting up to speed on all things NASA today as we prepare for the rollover of Atlantis tomorrow. I hope you will join me on Twitter (@rusewcrazy) and Instagram (@rusewcrazy) and I share pictures and stories.

It's Space Week!

That's right, for the next two weeks everything will be centered on the topic of space. I've already jazzed up the blog with a new
spacey-theme (spacey, like me, he he). And starting Thursday I will be live blogging and tweeting from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral Florida, where we'll be celebrating the move of the space shuttle Atlantis to its new home.

Please join me on twitter @rusewcrazy and Instagram @rusewcrazy!

I Made a Wedding Cake!

Aww check it out, I made a real wedding cake! And this was for a real live bride who is neither insane or completely lacking in taste. Lucky for her, I've taken just enough Wilton classes that the cake came out fairly successfully. It was white coconut cake with a lime curd filling. I baked cake layers for two weeks before I finally came up with a recipe that I liked. Luckily I have two refrigerators in my home.

I'm really happy with how the cake came out, and I'm glad I had taken all those classes. The roses are handmade of gumpaste, and the pearls are made of gumpaste and fondant and covered with different shades of pearl dust. The ribbon border was a last-minute addition as I was having trouble getting my fondant border to look nice.

Before the wedding I swore I'd never do it again but after seeing the finished cake at the wedding I found myself ready to do it again. I hope I get the chance to make another wedding cake soon!
